Muhle Limited Edition Silvertip Fibre Brush
EDITION No. 1: Carbon.
Carbon is an element which occurs naturally in a wide variety of forms. Carbon compounds are even to be found in diamonds. Engineers and active racing experts enthuse about the carbon used in industry.
Aesthetes love above all the fine light reflections created by the dark material. Following a complex development process we use this challenging material for the innovative design of MÜHLE EDITION No. 1. In doing so, we work the conventional, flexible fibrous structures by hand in a special process.
Individual blanks, which later become the handles of brushes and razors, are covered with the weave. Then they are placed in a form where the fibres are evenly aligned and soaked and cured with high-grade resin in several work steps, then finally polished. This produces the gleaming surfaces with their dynamic reflections.
EDITION No. 2: Urushi.
Made from the finest natural lacquer, MÜHLE EDITION No. 2 is precious and incomparably beautiful. Applied manually in wafer-thin layers, lacquer has long been a symbol of perfection and aestheticism. The first evidence of lacquer art dates back to the year 300 B.C. The craft of processing the resin of the Asian lacquer tree has been perfected continuously over the millennia.
In the ancient world, red and black, and later more colors, were applied in several layers. After curing, the work pieces are once again treated, polished, painted or engraved. Urushi is the name given to this artistic craft in Japan, and the expressions Japanese or Chinese lacquer are frequently used.
Our Edition series is created under the same conditions: the total absence of dust, the manual application of numerous layers and several polishing procedures. The less material used, the finer and deeper the shine.
EDITION No. 3: Bog Oak and Sterling Silver.
These products are completely new and yet they tell of a long distant past: They are made of the finest bog oak, an oak wood which rested airtight in bogs, swamps or on river banks for millennia, thereby acquiring a beautiful dark hue. The wood is refined with sterling silver, so that the fine indentations on its surface acquire a silvery gleam. Finally, the surface of these products is sealed in a high-gloss finish. The brush and razor are now not only beautiful, but also waterproof.
Without chrome the world would forfeit a lot of its luster. In the finish used for our wet shaving accessories it demonstrates its best qualities: The material is corrosion-resistant, very long-lasting and has a luxurious, alluring luster. When contrasted with this, the colors and shapes of other premium materials are shown to their very best advantage.
The Brushhead – Silvertip Fibre®
The high-quality synthetic fibres represent a world first of our own invention. We offer a synthetically produced premium quality whose material characteristics are analogous to those of the precious natural hair, silvertip badger. The majority of the users even say that this quality actually provides better performance characteristics than the natural hair.
‘Silvertip Fibre®’ is very soft at its fine tips, but somewhat more stable than natural hair in the middle section. These characteristics produce a pleasant, soft sensation on the skin when the lather is applied, without having to forgo the desired firmness of the hairs in the lathering process. In daily use, the manually processed fibres are less sensitive than natural hair as they dry more quickly and are resistant to shaving soaps and creams.
The completely vegan fibres are also somewhat easier to use than natural hair as they produce a particularly creamy and thick lather from a small amount of shaving soap or cream, which is used much more sparingly as a result.
