Muhle Purist Closed Comb Safety Razor Shaving Set
The Material – High Grade Resin
High-grade resin is a high-quality synthetic material, the surface of which is processed and refined separately. The material is ideal for exclusive accessories and writing implements because it facilitates a broad spectrum of modern and classical designs in many attractive colors.
To begin with, the aesthetic basic shapes for brush and razor handles are turned out of solid rods. Then each individual work piece is polished in several passes to give the surface its special gleam. This processing method lends the models a pleasant feel and secures their beauty for many years to come.
Without chrome the world would forfeit a lot of its luster. In the finish used for our wet shaving accessories it demonstrates its best qualities: The material is corrosion-resistant, very long-lasting and has a luxurious, alluring luster. When contrasted with this, the colors and shapes of other premium materials are shown to their very best advantage.
The Material – Briar Wood
This material has long been valued by lovers of fine tobacco pipes or inlaid work. But only a few people know that the exquisite briar wood is taken from the Erica arborea which grows exclusively in Mediterranean regions. In order to process the vividly grained wood for brushes and razors the wood is first cooked.
Only then does its' beautiful reddish to brown coloring develop. The sections free of cracks and inclusions are then processed with great diligence: sanded into shape, stained by hand, then waxed and finally polished. In this way, each work piece becomes a valuable unique item.
The Material – Karelian masur birch
The particularly beautiful wood of the masur birch comes from trees in the tree-line regions of the far north. Due to the harsh climatic conditions, the growth height is low and the wood develops an exceptionally rich grain. The precious wood has therefore been traditionally worked to create decorative objects.
The hand-picked square timbers are shaped by turning. Only the finest specimens are processed further and stabilized and coated in a special procedure. This makes the wood water resistant and hard-wearing. The high-gloss surface very expressively accentuates the individual veining of the grain.
The Brushhead – Silvertip Badger
Among connoisseurs, silvertip badger is regarded as the pièce de résistance: Only the best, carefully selected badger hair is used for these purely handcrafted shaving brushes. The precious natural material is particularly soft and flexible.
The fine, conically tapering hairs possess the ability to retain a large amount of water and produce a dense, creamy lather. Another sign of quality is the even black band running horizontally through the predominantly silvery gleaming hair. This premium product is manufactured using historical tools in an artisan procedure mastered by only a few specialists worldwide.
The Brushhead – Fine Badger
Fine badger is softer than pure badger, but somewhat firmer than silvertip badger. The hairs are light grey in color and feature the dark stripe or band typical of high badger hair qualities. This natural hair material is extremely well-suited to wet shavers who value the softness of badger hair and want to achieve a massage effect.
We process this quality mechanically according to the high standards which we apply to all MÜHLE products. If required, the crown of the brush head is slightly trimmed to obtain the perfect, typical shape of every single product.
The Brushhead – Silvertip Fibre®
Silvertip Fibre® is very soft at its fine tips, but somewhat more stable than natural hair in the middle section. These characteristics produce a pleasant, soft sensation on the skin when the lather is applied, without having to forgo the desired firmness of the hairs in the lathering process. In daily use, the manually processed fibres are less sensitive than natural hair as they dry more quickly and are resistant to shaving soaps and creams.
The completely vegan fibres are also somewhat easier to use than natural hair as they produce a particularly creamy and thick lather from a small amount of shaving soap or cream, which is used much more sparingly as a result.
The Razorhead – Classic razor blade
For generations, the safety razor has been regarded as a stylish classic which can even shave edges with precision. For many, it is the razor par excellence. Its styling is ideally suited to the design of the MÜHLE products.
Even if the open blade does demand a little respect at first: After a brief familiarization period, and guided by a steady hand, it produces a very close shave and a lasting result. Unlike modern blade systems, the head of the safety razor does not move. The blades are replaced by unscrewing the cap. They can be purchased from us and through retailers everywhere.
