Muhle Silvertip Badger Sophist Shaving Brush
Our Muhle Silvertip Badger Shaving Brush – SOPHIST
The Material – High Grade Resin
High-grade resin is a high-quality synthetic material, the surface of which is processed and refined separately. The material is ideal for exclusive accessories and writing implements because it facilitates a broad spectrum of modern and classical designs in many attractive colors.
To begin with, the aesthetic basic shapes for brush and razor handles are turned out of solid rods. Then each individual work piece is polished in several passes to give the surface its special gleam. This processing method lends the models a pleasant feel and secures their beauty for many years to come.
Without chrome the world would forfeit a lot of its luster. In the finish used for our wet shaving accessories it demonstrates its best qualities: The material is corrosion-resistant, very long-lasting and has a luxurious, alluring luster. When contrasted with this, the colors and shapes of other premium materials are shown to their very best advantage.
The Material – African Blackwood
Grenadilla or African Blackwood has been used in Europe for 500 years, initially to manufacture musical instruments. It is one of the hardest woods worldwide and displays a particularly beautiful, dark brown to black grain. The high density and hardness of this natural material predestines it as a wet shaving accessory: The wood is turned, oiled and polished to a mirror finish.
The result is a shimmering, highly water-resistant surface which further accentuates the grain. An attractive contrast to this is formed by the edging with gleaming chrome sections. We use only African Blackwood from certified, sustainable plantations.
The Material – Genuine Horn
Genuine horn has been used to make useful or decorative objects since ancient times. The natural material must be selected and processed with great care: Only solid horn tips are used for the handles of shaving brushes and razors. If the hand-picked tips are sufficiently thick, they are formed meticulously by a turner. Then they are very finely ground several times and finally polished to a high-gloss finish.
The gentle, yellow to ochre coloring makes the surface of the blonde horn appear very warm. The graining of the work pieces shimmers from white to brown and dark brown, lending each product its own individual character.
The Material – Porcelain
Its manufactures dates back to ancient China; in Europe, ‘white gold’ was first produced in 1708. An elegant, delicate material which must be worked with extreme care, from the manufacture of the blank shapes to the completed individual piece. Each body is shaped, glazed and fired by hand. Subsequently, the top and bottom of the handles are combined with chrome-plated brass fittings.
The Brushhead – Silvertip Badger
Among connoisseurs, silvertip badger is regarded as the pièce de résistance: Only the best, carefully selected badger hair is used for these purely handcrafted shaving brushes. The precious natural material is particularly soft and flexible.
The fine, conically tapering hairs possess the ability to retain a large amount of water and produce a dense, creamy lather. Another sign of quality is the even black band running horizontally through the predominantly silvery gleaming hair. This premium product is manufactured using historical tools in an artisan procedure mastered by only a few specialists worldwide.
The semi-circular shape of the brush head is created by hand when binding the brush. The fine tips therefore do not require trimming and the natural softness of the hair is retained.
